Yaya Toure’s return to Olympiakos has not exactly gone to plan. The Ivory Coast star struggled for his best form in Greece and soon found himself out of the starting XI. With his career coming toward an end, the 35-year-old has no desire to sit on the bench. So yesterday, he left the club.
The former Manchester City star has agreed the mutual termination of his deal and it has sent the rumour mill into overdrive regarding one Championship side.
Nottingham Forest are not being officially linked with a move for the player. It would certainly seem an unlikely move. Forest are well stocked in midfield, Toure is past his best and would cost a significant amount of the club’s wage bill.
However, when players are ‘mutually terminated’ from their Olympiakos contract, they do usually end up at Nottingham Forest these days.

Evangelos Marinakis owns both clubs and the likes of Stefanos Kapino, Karim Ansarifard and Panagiotis Tachtsidis have all made the switch.
Therefore, some rumours have begun circulating on Twitter that Nottingham Forest might swoop on Toure.
Some fans have even taken to photo-shopping him into training pictures.
Largely, it is tongue in cheek. Not many Nottingham Forest fans really believe the club will bring the three-time Premier League winner and Champions League winner to the City Ground.
But brace yourself, because Nottingham Forest are undoubtedly going to be linked in the days or weeks to come…
