Nottingham Forest fans criticise Carl Jenkinson for performance against Charlton

Nottingham Forest were beaten at home to Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night in the Championship – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter ripped into defender Carl Jenkinson for his performance.

The Reds were beaten 1-0 at the City Ground in the league fixture and it saw slip to fifth in the Championship table, but they would have gone second with a victory.

Lyle Taylor’s first-half goal was enough to earn three points for visitors Charlton, as they steered further away from relegation trouble.

Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi made five changes to his side from the team that beat Leeds United in impressive style at the weekend.

In-form right-back Matty Cash was given a rare spot on the bench against Charlton and that saw Jenkinson earn his first league start since August.

Jenkinson did miss a few months of the season with an ankle problem, but has been an option from the bench so far in this calendar year.

The 28-year-old was handed an opportunity to try impress against Charlton and unfortunately he was unable to take it, as he looked rusty in defence and couldn’t provide a creative offensive spark.

He is an ex-Arsenal full-back that doesn’t have the same energy as teammate Cash and it will be no surprise to see him back win the bench at the weekend.

A selection of Forest supporters on social media were left extremely frustrated by Jenkinson for his display against Charlton.
