Nottingham Forest had an opportunity to make a major impression on the burgeoning Championship play-off race when they faced fellow contenders Aston Villa at the City Ground last night.

But Martin O’Neill’s side fluffed their lines on an important night, slipping to a 3-1 defeat on their own patch to leave themselves three points and four places off the top six.

Jack Colback’s opening goal got the Reds off to the perfect start but a John McGinn double turned the game around before Kortney Hause made the match safe.

And in the aftermath of the match which was an immense disappointment, Forest supporters were very critical of their side’s display and there are already some signs of discontent with manager O’Neill already.
