TBR Football can exclusively confirm that Nottingham Forest are eyeing Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier.

The Reds recently sold Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United and are looking for a replacement ahead of a big 2025/26 campaign.

Nottingham Forest are set to play in Europe for the first time in 30 years and there’s a good chance they’ll be featuring in the Europa League next term.

With that in mind, Forest will need reinforcements, and Tavernier is a player they are looking at – though they’re not the only club interested.

Nottingham Forest join Fenerbahce and West Ham in Marcus Tavernier pursuit

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm that Nottingham Forest are monitoring Marcus Tavernier’s situation at Bournemouth.

However, Fenerbahce – managed by Jose Mourinho – are also looking at Tavernier and have made enquiries about the 26-year-old.

In addition, West Ham United are still keen on Tavernier, while Bournemouth insist they don’t want to lose him – but interest in the player is growing.

What Marcus Tavernier could bring to Nottingham Forest

Tavernier has been a regular for Bournemouth since his move from Middlesbrough in the 2022 summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old has made 90 appearances for the Cherries, registering 12 goals and 14 assists.

Tavernier is a very versatile player who featured in six positions for Bournemouth last season.

Tavernier boasts impressive dribbling and ball control – he excels at carrying the ball through opposition lines, and is also a very creative player.

Former Bournemouth boss Gary O’Neil previously said of Tavernier: “I don’t want to big him up too much because I don’t want anyone to come and take him but he’s a good footballer.

“At top clubs you have players who are gifted technically and players that are gifted physically. Marcus Tavernier has both.”

O’Neil, speaking about Tavernier’s goal in the win over Fulham in April 2023, added: “It was an incredible goal. I can’t believe we needed a strike that good to score. It was a big goal.”
