Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been named in Garth Crooks’ latest Premier League Team of the Week following his latest goalscoring heroics for Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees.

The 23-year-old is in incredible form at present, having registered 10 goals – including two hat-tricks – from just seven Toffees games this season.

Calvert-Lewin’s efforts have helped Everton to the top of the Premier League table and into the League Cup quarter-finals.

As if that wasn’t enough, the 6ft 2in sharpshooter was also called up to the England squad this month and won his first three caps, even netting on his debut against Wales.

At the weekend, Calvert-Lewin notched up a Merseyside derby goal, equalising for Everton en route to a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Goodison Park.

“This had all the elements of a classic Merseyside derby,” Crooks wrote on BBC Sport.

“Everton going into the game top of the table, while Liverpool needed to respond to a 7-2 mauling by Aston Villa.

“What did become almost immediately apparent was that both sides had very ordinary goalkeepers.

“Just as well there’s nothing remotely ordinary about Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s performances this season.

“His headed equaliser against Liverpool was simply sensational. In fact, the Everton and now England striker is in the form of his life.”

It seems like a long time ago that Calvert-Lewin was subject to a lot of criticism, but now the £1.5million signing looks like the bargain of the century.

He’s a young player who simply needed time to develop, and coaching and trust from a top-class manager like Carlo Ancelotti always helps.

Calvert-Lewin has gone on to answer his critics emphatically, and now boasts a Ronaldo-esque goal ratio – exciting times for Everton and England fans alike.
