‘Not meant to be here’: Shaun Wright-Phillips says £27m player must be wondering why he’s at Arsenal now

Arsenal, for the first time in a while, have incredible strength in depth.

The Gunners have a number of fantastic rotation options on their books at the moment, but, as ever, rotation can lead to unhappiness for certain players who continuously find themselves on the bench.

One very talented player who isn’t getting much of a sniff this term is Leandro Trossard, and speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Shaun Wright-Phillips has stated that the £27m player must be questioning why he’s at Arsenal if he’s not going to be getting much of a game.

Trossard must have questions

Wright-Phillips shared his verdict on Trossard.

“If I was Trossard I’d be wondering what I need to do to play in this team. Even last season, he had a few mistakes when City won the title, but his overall performance has been nothing but unbelievable. When he’s been needed he’s done the things you need to do on the buzzer. When you sign Havertz and he comes in before Trossard, if I was a player I’d be thinking maybe I’m not meant to be here, that’s how I would feel,” Wright-Phillips said.

Too good

We wouldn’t blame Trossard at all if he was questioning his Arsenal future at this moment in time.

Let’s be real, he’s way too good to be sitting on the bench for any club in the Premier League.

For most teams in this division, he’d be a star player, but, at Arsenal, he’s just a rotation option who doesn’t get the opportunities he deserves.

Trossard is a brilliant player, and he could probably get more chances at another top club.

Maybe it won’t be long before the Belgian is knocking on Mikel Arteta’s door asking to discuss his situation.
