Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has spoken about a number of his squad players who look set to start on Saturday and in the coming weeks.

As per football.london, the Spurs boss spoke about Giovani Lo Celso, Bryan Gil, Rodrigo Bentancur, Oliver Skipp and Eric Dier.

Postecoglou has some thinking to do with regards to his Tottenham starting XI for the Premier League trip to Wolves amid a personnel crisis.

This week alone, Spurs lost the services of four players for Saturday’s match and, in some cases, beyond that.

James Maddison and Micky van de Ven had to come off during the loss to Chelsea and both are now out of contention until the New Year.

Meanwhile, Richarlison has undergone groin surgery – something he has been battling from “day one” – and is expected to be out for about a month.

As for suspensions, Postecoglou will be without Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie, who were both sent off against the Blues on Monday night.

In wake of this week’s events, several squad players that haven’t had much game time are now set to get game time and potentially starts.

‘They have been preparing’

Lo Celso is likely to start in place of Maddison. The Argentina international has had to bide his time this season and also recover from a hamstring injury.

Alasdair Gold asked Postecoglou whether his decision to keep hold of Lo Celso was for moments like this when he could come to the fore.

“It’s not just Gio,” replied the Spurs boss. “It’s Bryan Gil, we have to be careful with Bentancur a bit. It is for him, Skippy, Eric Dier. It’s for all these guys.

“That’s why they have been training hard, they have been training with us, they haven’t been training separately.

“Everything we have done, we have done together and for all of them it’s about being prepared for when your opportunity comes.

“It’s fair to say that the opportunity comes now for a few of them and it’s up for them now to take that opportunity but they have been preparing themselves for that since the first day.”

Spurs hope to find silver lining as back-up players and returnees seek to stake claims – TBR View

It’s incredible, and sometimes baffling, how quickly things can change in football.

This time last week, Spurs were loving life, sitting top of the Premier League table and boasting a dream team that was levels above last season’s outfit.

Then, in the space of one game, Tottenham unexpectedly lose the services of four key players.

That said, all the players Postecoglou have talked about are high-quality footballers and will be eager to prove themselves.

They now have a chance to stake claims for regular starts, so let’s see whether there’s a silver lining to this difficult situation.
