Arsenal had a very frustrating New Year’s Eve as they lost against Fulham on Sunday.

The Gunners lost 2-1 against their London rivals as they conceded more ground in the Premier League title race and slipped down to fourth in the table.

As you can imagine, tensions were high at Craven Cottage on Sunday, and speaking on Premier League Productions, Leroy Rosenior has highlighted one thing he noticed during the game.

Rosenior noted that Gabriel Martinelli was far from happy after being substituted off, noting that he even snubbed a handshake from Emile Smith Rowe as he made his way to the bench.

Martinelli wasn’t happy

Rosenior spotted that the £6m Arsenal player was fuming.

“I saw a few things, you know how observant I am and this is Martinelli coming off against Fulham. He’s obviously not happy, he shakes hands with Reiss Nelson, but look at Emile Smith Rowe, he puts his hand out to shake his hand and he blanks him, he absolutely blanks him. He’s not happy, not happy at all,” Rosenior said.

Understandable

While it’s a bit petulant to snub a handshake from a teammate, we can understand why Martinelli was so angry during that game against Fulham.

Arsenal are in poor form right now, and everyone associated with the club is starting to get a bit antsy.

Martinelli had a frustrating afternoon against Fulham as he barely got a sniff of an opportunity, and he was understandably far from happy after seeing his team throw away a lead.

To be honest, it’s quite a good thing that Martinelli was so annoyed, it shows that he cares, and that sort of passion is what is going to help Arsenal get back on track in the coming weeks.

Let’s hope that a fire is now lit under Martinelli and he can improve over the next few games.
