Arsenal goalkeeper Deyan Iliev is currently on loan at Shrewsbury, where he made his second appearance for the club last night.
The Gunners stopper linked up with the third-tier side – who needed to replace fellow loanee Matija Sarkic due to a hamstring injury – earlier this month.
Having made his debut last weekend in a 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon, Iliev was once again named in between the sticks for the home meeting with Bristol Rovers.
The 25-year-old put in a mixed performance, pulling off a couple of smart saves but being caught out for the opposition’s winner, a header by the unmarked Brandon Hanlan.
Iliev’s distribution also came in for some criticism, although Shrewsbury definitely had chances to get the win at the other end, but were wasteful throughout.
Here is what some Shrews fans made of the Arsenal loanee’s display at the New Meadow:
Iliev better than Burgoyne? Not for me…

I wouldn’t blame him, looked a little limp from the keeper

Iliev gets away with one big time for kicking it against Oztumer. SR has been unhappy with a lot of his distributuon tonight.

Oh wow, Rovers clear through and it’s a big save from Iliev to keep the game going.
Straight at him, but plenty of power – still 1-0 and it’s on a knife edge #salop

1/ So, just wanted to say thanks to those of you who followed along. First time we’ve done this, and made the game more enjoyable! I wanted to give my thoughts across a few tweets. Iliev – if I were Harry, I’d be annoyed I was dropped. Distribution poor all night ^IC #salop

Iliev has been with the Gunners since 2012, when he joined their academy from North Macedonian outlet Belasica, but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the North Londoners.
Last season, Iliev – whose Arsenal contract runs until 2022 – spent time on loan at Slovakia’s SKF Sered and Poland’s Jagiellonia Bialystok.
