'Not for me', 'I'd have him': Everton fans react to Eddie Howe links
Everton are still looking for a new manager to replace Carlo Ancelotti and Eddie Howe is the latest name to get linked with the job today.
The Express reports that Howe is keen on taking the Everton job. That is, of course, if the club wanted to appoint him.
The Toffees are still reeling a bit after seeing Ancelotti leave last week. The Italian coach upped and left out of nowhere, after Real Madrid made a surprising move to bring him back to Spain.
For Howe, a move to Everton would represent a first return to management since he left Bournemouth. He guided the Cherries to become an established Premier League team.
Naturally, Everton fans picked up on the news and have been discussing Howe’s credentials on social media.
Everton fans discuss Eddie Howe on Twitter
Howe is well-respected in the game. As a younger manager, he built quite the reputation for himself with Bournemouth.
Opinion was firmly split on Howe among the Toffees fans on Twitter. There was some support, but also a fair few negative comments.
Everton need to get this next appointment right.
Here, then, is what some Everton fans had to say about the links to Eddie Howe today.
What a bunch of snobs we’ve become, good young manager! I’d have him and Duncan

I think a lot of people are forgetting that Bournemouth regularly beat/drew with us and he had a 10 th of the funds or club prestige we had. Evertonian, right age, right experience, good footballing sides. We need someone to grow with the club. Not another Frankenstein squad.

Would he even be mentioned if we wasn’t an Evertonian? Just not the man for me, trouble is, who is?

I know he was a fan of the club growing up but he took B’mth down through a refusal to adapt his style of play and tactics. That stubbornness is what Martinez got sacked for in the end. The best mgr’s have a plan A, B, C, D etc. Not a one dimensional way of playing.

Tbh true or not – I’d rather someone got the job that really wanted it – our last 3 managers came for the £ maybe Howe isn’t the man but I’m not going to mock his desire to be our boss he seems a sincere bloke to me

Fair play to him, good to see and why wouldn’t he, dream job for him but there is no way that Everton should consider it

Need to give him a good shove back
