'Not every day you get the opportunity': 33-goal striker could be tempted by Arsenal, says pundit
Arsenal could prove a tempting proposition for Ivan Toney, according to Brentford cult hero Sam Sodje.
According to a TEAMtalk report from March, the Gunners have asked to be kept informed of the 25-year-old’s situation.
Arsenal aren’t the only club said to be in the running – Leeds and West Ham also reportedly in pursuit.
Toney has been great for Brentford since his move from Peterborough last year.
He scored 31 goals and registered 10 assists in the regular Championship season to seal a playoff place.
Toney then scored twice in the playoffs, including in the final, to get Brentford into the Premier League.
Despite now being in the top flight, Sodje thinks Toney would have a tough decision to make if Arsenal come calling.
“There’s a time I was in that position where you play for Brentford and big clubs come for you,” Sodje told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“It is hard to advise a player in that situation because you don’t know his mindset, his goals.
“Brentford have gone up, Toney had a great season so this might be the opportunity to play for a top of the Premier League club.
“But at the same time you want him to play games in the Premier League so he has to go to a club or stay at Brentford where he’ll get games in the Premier League.
“When it comes to individual goals, it’s not everyday you get the opportunity to play for Arsenal, Manchester United or the big clubs, so it is a very difficult choice to make.
“There are two things, either you stay at Brentford, play every game or take the opportunity to play for a big club.”

Toney has enjoyed a spectacular upward trajectory.
To get 43 goals and assists in one season in the second tier is no mean feat.
He’s also just 25, so he’s only just entering his prime.
If Arsenal want to bolster their ranks, they should certainly move for the Bees marksman.
