‘Not easy’: De Zerbi makes claim about Tottenham ahead of tonight’s match

Tottenham Hotspur are capable of winning the Premier League this season, according to Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Spurs bolstered their ranks considerably over the summer as Antonio Conte oversaw his first pre-season at N17.

Tottenham began the season brightly, albeit without hitting top gear a lot of the time.

However, Spurs are now winless in two, and suffered a morale-sapping defeat at Arsenal in the league last week.

In midweek, Tottenham played out a 0-0 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.

Spurs will now hope to take all three points on their trip to the Amex Stadium, but they’re up against tough opposition.

Brighton sit fourth in the table, having played out an exhilarating 3-3 draw at Liverpool last time out.

Despite Tottenham’s wavering form, De Zerbi says Spurs are in the “right condition” to win the title.

However, the Brighton boss stressed that it’s “not easy”, given the challenge from the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.

“I think Tottenham are in the right condition this year to win the Premier League,” The Sussex Express quotes De Zerbi as saying.

“It’s not easy because there is City, Liverpool and Chelsea.

“But in the transfer market they bought very good players.

“And after one year of work with Antonio, they are able to win it.”

A hotly-contested title race – TBR View

Tottenham certainly have the players, tactics and manager to be in contention for the title.

However, it’ll be a very hotly-contested race, with many strong teams also vying for the trophy.

Manchester City will be favourites, adding the prolific Erling Haaland to their already impressive ranks.

And much as many Spurs fans won’t want to hear it, Arsenal will likely be in contention too.

Then you have Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool, a bit off the pace now but still capable of pulling it back as the season goes on.

Nonetheless, Tottenham are certainly on the right track, and hopefully will remain in contention for the title and perhaps some cups.
