‘Not doing enough’… Tim Sherwood says £50m Tottenham player simply hasn’t been good enough

Tottenham lost again against West Ham on Thursday evening.

The north London club have now gone five games without a win in the Premier League and serious questions are now being asked of this squad.

Certain players have kept their standards high and are playing brilliantly, but others, quite simply, haven’t been good enough as of late.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Tim Sherwood was dissecting Spurs’ performance against West Ham, and he shared his belief that Brennan Johnson isn’t doing enough for this team right now.

Johnson isn’t doing enough

Sherwood shared his verdict on the £50m man

“It’s the creativity, they need someone like Maddison to get on the ball. They don’t have anyone else who can open the door. Kulusevski does bits and pieces down the right hand side, for me, Johnson is not doing enough and Son was quiet tonight,” Sherwood said.

Disappointing

Brennan Johnson has avoided a lot of criticism this season due to how well Spurs have been doing, but now that the wheels have come off a bit in north London, we may need to have a conversation about his performances for Spurs.

One goal in half a season for a £50m attacker really isn’t good enough, and while he is only 22 years old, he does need to improve.

Of course, you give new signings the benefit of the doubt as they take time to settle in and get to grips with their surroundings, but £50m makes Johnson Spurs’ most expensive addition of the summer, and, in all honesty, you’d probably say he’s the worst signing the north London club made in the last window.

The likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Micky Van de Ven and James Maddison have settled in with ease, but, for some reason, it’s not happened for Johnson yet.
