Tottenham have been dealt a transfer blow, with Southampton manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl, shutting down talk of a potential Danny Ings move.
The England striker is a wanted man following a stunning campaign with the Saints last season. Indeed, that form has seen him back in the England squad, with Gareth Southgate a big fan of the former Liverpool man.
But after reports from The Guardian suggested Spurs had identified Ings as a potential signing this week, Saints boss Hssenhuttl has moved quickly to play down any thoughts of a transfer. (Quotes via Goal)
“The only thing I want to say for these rumours is that there is absolutely zero interest from Danny to go anywhere. He is 100 per cent happy here. For us it is not discussable. He loves what we do here and he loves to play for us.”
Those comments from the Austrian would suggest that Southampton are now ready to plot their course with Ings firmly at the front of their thinking.
Tottenham, meanwhile, will need to look for other targets. However, in a week which is set to see them land Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, they won’t be overly worried as yet.

There aren’t many better ways than to shut down rumours by simply saying outright that something isn’t happening.
These comments from Hasenhuttl were clear as day and good news for Saints fans.
For Tottenham, they’ll have to look elsewhere. A move for Ings was always a bit of a hope rather than a gettable deal. Jose Mourinho will, no doubt, have other irons in the fire.
