'Not convinced' - Everton fans react after out-of-contract Bassala Sambou is offered a new deal
Everton want to tie Bassala Sambou down to a new contract, according to The Liverpool Echo. Sambou’s contract expires at the end of the season but a new deal appears to be on the table.
The 21-year-old joined Everton in 2016, penning a three-year deal after leaving Coventry City. He had played one game for the Sky Blues (in the FA Cup) but left to join Everton.
Since moving to Goodison Park, he is yet to gain any first-team experience. And Sambou has not been sent out on loan either.

But after scoring 11 goals in 25 games and helping Everton U23 to the Premier League 2 title, the club are ready to reward him with an extension.
The German-born striker now faces a battle to convince Marco Silva that he is ready to step up to first-team level.
But many Everton fans are sceptical of his ability to do so. Sambou may have been offered a new deal but the jump from youth football to the senior game is sizeable.
Here are some tweets from Everton supporters discussing Sambou’s first-team prospects with a new deal reportedly offered.
@ToffeeTVEFC on the back of offering Sambou a new contract, and the fact that our winning U23 side had a far greater average age than the other teams. Are we too eager to see our youth come through the ranks? The top 6 sides seem to live without it.

Surprised at this. He’s 22 soon isn’t he? Will he make it? @TrevorMcKinlay @elpivoteftbl

Think he’ll stay? Found it strange no one wanted a loan in Jan so can’t see clubs in the champ lining up to offer a deal

Sounds like a new deal is in the offing but I’m not convinced by him
