‘Not always better away from us’: Graham Roberts shocked by what’s happened to player who left Spurs recently

Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has expressed his shock after seeing what’s happened to Christian Eriksen following his departure from Spurs.

For a long time, the Denmark international was deemed one of Tottenham’s best players, having clocked up 305 appearances for Spurs, scoring 69 goals and registering 89 assists.

However, Eriksen failed to have the same impact for Tottenham in the first half of last season, with just three assists and three goals, amid constant speculation over his future.

In the end, the 28-year-old made the move to Inter Milan in January for a reported £16.9million, penning a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Serie A side.

Things haven’t exactly worked out well for Eriksen in Italy, however – to date, he’s only made 32 appearances in all competitions, and this term, he’s started just three games.

On Tuesday night, Inter were in Champions League action and the Dane was once again on the bench, coming on for the last 11 minutes.

Roberts took to Twitter with his thoughts on Eriksen’s situation since leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Inter head coach Antonio Conte is still not convinced Eriksen is the right fit for the club and will consider selling him for the right price in January.
