Norwich City defender Max Aarons has praised the Liverpool players who play most games in his full back position, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.
Speaking on Premier League Uncut, Aarons raved over the duo, who have impressed him during his first season as a Premier League player.
Asked who the best passing full back in the division is, Aarons said: “I would probably say Trent Alexander-Arnold. The way he can switch a ball is top drawer. It is crazy to watch.”
When who the best dribbler at full back was put to him, he responded: “Robertson. When I watch him go forward, the way he takes on players and beats them he is great to watch.”
TBR’s View – Liverpool’s full backs are essentially playmakers
For most sides in the Premier League, it’s a bonus if their full backs can offer some creativity in terms of quality passing or dribbling.
For Liverpool, their playmakers have been moved from midfield to full back. Robertson and Alexander-Arnold have so much freedom to bomb on and those qualities Aarons highlights are the reason why.
Liverpool have the likes of Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum in central midfield, who are willing to tuck in and cover the full backs, which lets the duo bomb on and showcase the skills which have caught Aarons’ eye.
