Norwich City star underlines just how important it is to sign Tottenham player, again

Norwich star Alex Tettey has told the EDP that it is crucial Norwich City look to re-sign Oliver Skipp from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, after the young English ace starred for the Canaries in their promotion back to the top.

Skipp, 20, starred for Norwich after joining Daniel Farke’s side on loan last summer – playing in 45 of the club’s 46 Championship games. His only absence came in the final game of the season, with promotion already secured.

The England Under-21 star now has an intriguing decision to make. Does he look to remain at Tottenham, and risk not playing every single week – or does he go back on loan to Norwich and get regular Premier League football?

That decision could be taken out of his hands, but Norwich star Tettey has had his say on the matter. He thinks that it makes sense for Skipp to return to Carrow Road, if he is not going to play regularly at Tottenham next season.

“When you are that age, you consistently play football. Tottenham need to find out whether they want to give him that. If not, then we know and he knows there is only one place for him. He should just come here,” Tettey said.

“There is no pressure. The manager loves him. He knows the group, he’s been here and done well. It makes sense for him to come back. Everyone wants him to come back. Fingers crossed.”

TBR’s view – Skipp has a huge decision to make

But it is quite an easy one, in retrospect. He needs to be told, by Tottenham’s incoming manager, if he will be in and around the first-team squad next season. If he gets 30-odd games, and starts the majority of those, then stay at Spurs

It is a possibility. Spurs could qualify for the Europa League again, and that will give Skipp plenty of chances to shine in Europe. There is a space in the Spurs side alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg up for grabs.

But realistically, is he going to get better game time than regularly playing in a Premier League team like Norwich? Probably not. Right now, a return to Norwich makes more sense.
