‘Solid performance’: National media impressed by ‘unbelievable’ Arsenal player on international duty last night

Arsenal have plenty to be interested in when it comes to this current international break and Martin Odegaard was one of the players who continued his fine form while away with Norway.

Odegaard is a key figure for Norway and he showed his class as he helped his country to a 2-0 victory over Slovakia, getting on the scoresheet in the process as well. Erling Haaland scored the opener for Norway, before Odegaard added the second just minutes later.

The midfielder has been integral for the Gunners this term. Lauded as ‘unbelievable’ by Tim Sherwood earlier in the season, the Norwegian media also seemed impressed with Odegaard. Writing their player ratings up in Nettavisen Sport, the Arsenal man was given a glowing reference.

“A good performance by Norway’s captain. Often ended up in situations close to Slovakia’s penalty area where he tried the small game that works so well at Arsenal, but could not find his teammates in the same way tonight.”

“Very good start to the second half when he found Erling Braut Haaland and Holmgren Pedersen in the right corridor, respectively. Decided to shoot after 80 minutes, and put on to 2-0 when he found the top net masks right up in the corner. Solid performance by Norway’s national team captain, who sniffs at the seven,” Nettavisen wrote.

TBR’s View: Odegaard One Of This Year’s Bargains

Arsenal paid around £30m for Odegaard in the summer and you have to say it’s looking an absolute bargain at the moment.

His performances for club and country are right up there and if he carries on as he is, then Arsenal have every chance of making that top four slot they crave.

Goals are a bonus for Odegaard, too. It’s probably the one area he needs to add more to. But scoring for Norway will help and Mikel Arteta will be delighted to see his man get on the scoresheet here.
