Mathias Normann came off the bench to rescue a point for Norway last night.

Normann was introduced as a second-half substitute with Norway trailing 1-0 in Romania. The reported Tottenham Hotspur target provided the moment of magic needed to unlock the resolute Romanian defence.

Operating from a central role, Normann lifted a perfect ball into the box for Alexander Sorloth to convert in stoppage time. This point kept Norway’s hopes of qualification alive – just.

With two games left to play in European qualifying, the Norwegians trail Sweden by four points and Romania by three points. Normann has just above kept the dream alive.

Normann has recently been linked with a return to the Premier League. The former Brighton midfielder – who never played for the Seagulls – is currently at FC Rostov. But Tottenham and Manchester United reportedly want the 23-year-old, according to Goal.

With a goal and three assists this season, Normann is building up a reputation in Russia. Sevilla are also keen on the Norway star – who could cost up to £20m. Here are some Norway fans reacting to his performance against Romania.
