Noel Whelan has told BBC Radio Leeds that Rodrigo helped change the game after coming on at half-time during Leeds United’s win over Sheffield United on Sunday.
The Whites claimed a dramatic victory at Bramall Lane. Patrick Bamford’s late header was all that could separate the two sides.

There were a couple of times in the first-half when Leeds were relying on Illan Meslier to produce some world-class saves. But the visitors were arguably much better after the break.
And one of the reasons for their improvement after the interval was the introduction of Rodrigo. The Spain international replaced Tyler Roberts in the attacking midfield role.
And the 29-year-old arguably produced his best display yet for the Whites following his summer move. He was always showing for the ball and produced some nice touches.

When he did bring the ball under control, it looked as though the home side were going to stand little chance of wrestling possession off of him.
Rodrigo also managed to have a couple of attempts on goal as Leeds looked to break the deadlock.
And while he did not manage to open his account for his new club, Whelan suggested that he was extremely impressed with the forward’s display in the 1-0 win.
“Number 10’s, all the way across the world, they’re players that play with intelligence and make a difference. I think he made a difference when he came on,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.
“I think he was a little bit more forward thinking. He linked up play. He dropped into positions. He got hold of the ball. Balls out wide, he had a couple of shots as well, one deflected, one saved. So yeah, I think out of him and Tyler Roberts, you’ve got to put Rodrigo up there.”
It would arguably be a surprise if Roberts kept his place against Manchester City ahead of Rodrigo. The Wales international was, unfortunately, unable to make enough of an impact during his time on the pitch.
Meanwhile, there were glimpses of the quality that Rodrigo will bring once he is fully up to speed. And after City conceded five later on on Sunday, the summer signing will surely fancy his chances of ending his wait for a goal in the club’s next game.
