Noel Whelan has admitted to BBC Radio Leeds (broadcast on 19/10; 22:13) that he was really disappointed with Jack Harrison with the pundit critical of Leeds United’s deliveries into the penalty area during their 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.
Whites fans would have been forgiven for having flashbacks to some of their more frustrating clashes in the Championship. They played some outstanding football against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, but came away with nothing.

In truth, neither side created many clear-cut chances. And Whelan suggested that he felt that that, from a Leeds perspective, was down to the quality of the balls into the box – with Harrison being singled out.
“It was [poor]. I think the best deliveries came from the full-backs in Ayling and Dallas at times,” he told BBC Radio Leeds when asked about the deliveries into the area.

“I was really disappointed with Harrison. I’ve seen him have miles better games, with crosses into the box where he gives the striker half a chance to attack. Because you work so hard to get into those areas, it’s not easy.”
TBR View: Criticism of Harrison looks incredibly unfair
It appears to be extremely unfair to criticise Harrison’s performance. As shown by Whoscored.com, he contributed three key passes – no player managed more.
He certainly seemed to get the better of his battle with Nelson Semedo. The Wolves summer signing seemed to have a torrid time throughout the contest.
And while Harrison’s crosses ultimately came to nothing, there is surely no question that he put in a number of dangerous balls into the box.
Wolves dealt with the crosses well enough to keep a clean sheet. But on another day, it seemed Harrison could have easily ended up with a couple of assists.
