A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to praise Dennis Cirkin’s performance for Spurs in their pre-season friendly win on Saturday.
The 18-year-old, a left-back by trade, has been working his way up the ranks in the Spurs academy.
According to Football London, he has a lot of fans at the club, many tipping him for a bright future in the first team.
Indeed, Jose Mourinho has described Cirkin – who signed his first professional contract last year – as a “kid with a lot of quality”.
The Portuguese also named him in his matchday squad three times last season – once in the Premier League and twice in the FA Cup.
In Saturday’s friendly with Ipswich Town, Cirkin was brought on at the break in place of Ben Davies, and he put in a tidy performance both defensively and offensively.
Indeed, he stood out to quite a few Tottenham fans watching, and throughout the game and at full time, a lot of praise came his way.
Here is some of the social media reaction:
I am convinced after 2:30 minutes that Denis Cirkin is the best LB in the world. What a guy

Some smart touches by Cirkin so far. Play a lot like like Davies

Been impressed with Cirkin this match. Defends well, gets forward into good positions. Might have a player on our hands here eventually.

Cirkin looks like he’s going to be a baller. Confident on the ball. A battler, strong.

Spurs ran out 3-0 winners over Ipswich, with Ryan Sessegnon opening the scoring and Son Heung-min getting a brace, all the goals coming in the first half.
