Davinson Sanchez reportedly still has faith within some at Tottenham that feel he can become an elite defender – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter are not happy with the claim.
According to Football London, there are some people at Spurs that feel Sanchez could reach new heights if he has the right partner alongside him at centre-back.
Sanchez, who joined Spurs for £42million (Telegraph) back in 2017 from Ajax, is now just three appearances short of 150 for the north London club.
The 24-year-old is an athletic centre-half with pace and power, but can be a little rash at times in his defending.
He’s played 30 games across all competitions this season. Unfortunately, he’s had spells in and out of the team under Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho.
The Colombian enforcer has nailed down a spot in the Premier League XI in the past couple of months, but there is real competition for a spot in the heart of the Spurs defence.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media believe that putting faith in Sanchez could be a risky move.
If you were looking for a word to sum up his career with them so far, then inconsistent would be it.
At times he shows he’s got all the traits to be a top defender, but individual errors cost him, and he needs to cut them out to succeed under Mourinho.
Here are some Spurs fans that are upset by the Sanchez report:
