Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing what Mikel Arteta said about Willian, in a very honest interview from the Spaniard.
What’s the story?
Well, it sounds as if Arteta is fed up of Willian.
In an open interview, the Gunners boss admitted that his £192,308-a-week forward has not lived up to expectations.
As quoted by ESPN, Arteta said: “Yeah, I think anybody would agree (the move hasn’t worked out).
“I think the expectations when we made the decision together to bring him to the football club, what he wanted to do coming here has not been fulfilled.”
As one fan below states, it’s rare to see Arteta speak so negatively about one of his players in the media.
He is often a strong backer of his players, even blindly at times, so his comments – and body language when speaking – about Willian were telling.
Worst move under Mikel Arteta?

In our view, signing Willian has been Arsenal’s worst move under Arteta.
The north Londoners have paid the 70-cap Brazil international a huge amount of money since August 2020, when he joined on a free transfer.
Since then, Willian has scored just one goal in 37 appearances for Arsenal.

Now, it seems as if Arteta has lost faith.
That isn’t a surprise to us, in truth. Admittedly, we are surprised it took him this long to finally give up on his No.12.
Let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter thought of Arteta’s comments on Willian…
