‘No’: Thierry Henry says there’s something Gabriel Jesus simply won’t be able to do at Arsenal this season

Thierry Henry has told CBS Sports that Gabriel Jesus simply won’t be able to score 25 to 30 goals for Arsenal this season.

The Arsenal legend heaped praise on Jesus for his displays for the Gunners, but doesn’t think he’s prolific enough in front of goal to hit these kind of numbers.

Jesus has been a revelation for Mikel Arteta’s side after making the switch from Manchester City over the summer. The 25-year-old has provided Arsenal with real quality up-front, something they were seriously lacking last season.

The Brazilian has already netted five Premier League goals in just 11 appearances for the Gunners. But Henry has dismissed Jesus’ chances of finishing with a much higher total.

Thierry Henry on Gabriel Jesus

“Jesus is a guy who can put more pressure,” Henry told CBS Sports.

“Is he going to be a guy that’s going to score 25-30 goals? No. But what he does is contagious.

“Then you have the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, who can do wonders.” as transcribed by HITC.

History would certainly suggest that the Arsenal legend is right, Jesus’ best season in the Premier League so far saw him finish with 14 goals in 34 appearances for City.

But the Brazilian played a lesser role in the Pepe Guardiola’s side, often being forced to play out wide due to the quality of Sergio Aguero.

Jesus has also developed into a much more accomplished player over the last two seasons and is proving to be a top-class number nine.

The Arsenal man still has some work to do on his finishing and was slightly wasteful against Southampton on the weekend.

But it’s his all-round game that has benefited Arsenal massively so far, not just his goals.

Mikel Arteta now boasts a frightening front-three and Jesus has linked up brilliantly with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

It will be interesting to see how many goals Jesus manages to score now that he is the main man for Arsenal.
