Jamie Carragher has disagreed with Gary Neville’s comments on Tottenham Hotspur benefiting from an early FA Cup exit.
Spurs have drawn Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup after beating Burnley earlier this month.
Tottenham will have the advantage of playing the Premier League champions at home. But as draws go, it arguably couldn’t get any tougher for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

With that being said, Pep Guardiola’s side are yet to win a game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and haven’t scored a single goal at Spurs’ new home.
Gary Neville feels Postecoglou’s side could benefit from an early cup exit as it will allow them to focus on the league. But Jamie Carragher disagrees.
Carragher disagrees with Neville’s comments on Tottenham
Speaking on The Overlap, Carragher questioned Neville’s opinion on Spurs benefitting from an early cup exit and said: “You said something about them, if they go out the FA Cup. It’s like no!”
“I said the likelihood is that they could go out the FA Cup, they could have a completely clear run,” Neville responded.
“What’s this clear run? If you’re in the league and the FA Cup, there is only the quarter-finals and semi-finals you’d have to rearrange league games,” Carragher went on.
Neville added: “But what I’m saying to you is that if they are to go out the FA Cup, would it be the end of the world for them to concentrate on the league?”
Carragher then made the point that the FA Cup would hardly affect Tottenham’s schedule until the latter stages of the competition.
“Tottenham don’t need to be out the FA Cup, because the FA Cup isn’t a midweek thing,” he said. “The FA Cup is at the weekend and it’s only at the semi-final stage where you might have to rearrange one league game.”
But Neville stuck to his guns and even claimed that Spurs could finish second in the league once their key players return from injury.
He said: “Liverpool have a lot going on, Arsenal have a lot going on City, City will and it could just be that they could, with that team they have, if they get their five players fit, they could [finish second].”

Spurs have already crashed out of one cup competition in the early stages this season, with Postecoglou’s side being knocked out of the League Cup in the first round.
Unless something quite remarkable happens in the league, the FA Cup feels like Tottenham’s best opportunity of up some silverware this term.
Of course, Spurs fans are desperate to see the club end their long wait for a trophy after so many near misses since that Carling Cup win in 2008.
We’d have to agree with Carragher on this one. The FA Cup won’t exactly hamper Tottenham’s chances of performing in the league.
Spurs are only in two competitions at the moment and once their key players return, they should have enough to compete on two fronts.
