‘No intention’: Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal won’t be selling Eddie Nketiah to West Ham

Respected worldwide football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, has said that Arsenal have ‘no intention’ of selling Eddie Nketiah this January, despite West Ham’s interest.

Reports before the weekend claimed that the Hammers could look to Nketiah as their replacement for the recently sold Sebastien Haller.

The England under-21 star has been in and out of proceedings under Mikel Arteta this season and is highly rated by those at Arsenal. But with Folarin Balogun also in contention and Alexandre Lacazette coming good, West Ham clearly fancy their chances.

However, Romano has taken to his Twitter account today to play down any talk of a move to West Ham for Nketiah, insisting the Gunners have every intention of keeping hold of their man.

Romano’s comments would suggest that the Hammers have little to no chance of landing Nketiah. And in fairness, it was probably always something of a long shot anyway.

Nketiah has scored five goals in all competitions this term, with three of those coming in the Europa League.

Why Arsenal would consider selling any of their young talents is beyond most. They have a plethora of emerging quality coming through the ranks and it makes little to zero sense in moving any of them on.

Nketiah has plenty to offer for Arsenal and could well take over as the main man once Lacazette moves on. Yes, he needs to do a bit more but he is still young and has time to develop.

Smart move this drom Arsenal to bat away any interest from the Hammers.
