'No': Gabby Agbonlahor suggests Harry Maguire is much better than £60k-a-week Tottenham defender

Gabriel Agbonlahor has suggested to TalkSPORT that Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is much better than Tottenham Hotspur’s Ben Davies

Maguire has struggled for gametime under Erik Ten Hag this season and has made just four appearances in the Premier League.

Davies has been battling it out with Clement Lenglet for a place in Antonio Conte’s starting line-up. But the £60,000-a-week man has managed eight more appearances than Maguire, chipping in with two goals and an assist.

Ahead of the World Cup, Agbonlahor has claimed that no Welsh players would make it into England’s 26-man squad for Qatar.

The former Aston Villa striker says he’d pick Maguire over Davies, and claimed he wouldn’t take former Spurs star Gareth Bale in the England squad.

Agbonlahor suggest Maguire is better than Davies

Speaking on TalkSPORT today, Agbonlahor said: “I do feel that there is no Welsh player that would get anywhere near England’s best thirty players available.

“26 in the squad, four more. I’m picking [Ivan] Toney before [Gareth] Bale. I’m picking [Jarrod] Bowen.”

Welsh football legend Dean Saunders then asked Agbonlahor if he would take Davies over Maguire.

The TalkSPORT pundit first asked “Who?,” in response but then followed up with: “Maguire.”

Maguire’s form has been called into question ahead of the World Cup, with complaints over Southgate picking the United star.

He’s fallen down the pecking order in Manchester, with Ten Hag preferring the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane over him.

Davies hasn’t performed as well as he did last season but he has been playing more consistently for Spurs.

Wales are set to face-off against Gareth Southgate’s men in the final game of the World Cup group stage at the end of the month.

Maguire will be hoping he can produce the brilliant displays he’s managed over the past two tournaments for England in Qatar.
