Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Moises Caicedo is set for a Premier League move this month – but he says Everton, one of his reported suitors, will miss out.

The 19-year-old, who has been impressing at Ecuador’s Independiente Del Valle, has been linked with a number of English clubs over the past few weeks.

Despite his tender age, Caicedo has clocked up 31 senior appearances for his current side, scoring six goals.

Everton, along with West Ham and Newcastle, were reportedly in discussions with Independiente Del Valle over a deal for the youngster, while Chelsea also made enquiries.

Caicedo was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, but the Old Trafford club apparently opted not to make an offer.

Romano claimed on Monday that negotiations were progressing between Independiente Del Valle and Brighton and, on Tuesday, he “confirmed” the deal.

The Daily Mail claims Brighton are likely to loan Caicedo out to Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise after completing the deal.

Last week, speculation from Caicedo’s homeland suggested that Everton were at the head of the queue for the prodigious midfielder, but sadly it looks as though they’ve missed out.

One advantage for Brighton is that they have retained a good relationship with Independiente del Valle since signing Billy Arce in 2018, so it makes sense that they had the edge for Caicedo.
