'No chance', 'Seriously doubt': Some Everton fans react as report names PL striker Toffees are monitoring
Everton supporters will be hoping to see the club produce a big summer. Of course, they are still looking for Carlo Ancelotti’s successor.
Once the new manager is in place, the club will turn their attention to player signings. And it seems that one name on their radar is Wood.
The 29-year-old enjoyed another decent season with Burnley this past term. He ended the campaign with 12 goals in the top flight.
According to the Daily Mirror, Everton want the New Zealand international. But they also face competition from Aston Villa and West Ham.
It is noted that the Toffees pursuing Wood will largely depend on their next manager.
He will not come cheap however. The Daily Mirror reports that the Clarets would want more than £25 million for the striker.
‘No thanks’: Everton fans not sold on Chris Wood as Toffees eye striker transfer
In fairness to Wood, he has been a consistent goalscorer in the top flight. He has reached double figures every year since his move from Leeds United.
Nevertheless, it appears that many of the Everton fans would not be in favour of a move for the striker in the coming months.
He turns 30 later this year. So paying over £25 million for him would be a risk, in many eyes.
With that in mind, here is how some of the fans have reacted to the links…
Seriously doubt Everton will be paying £25mill for a 29yr old CF ( although he is a much underrated player )

I actually wouldn’t put it past Everton to sell Moise Kean for £30M and to buy Chris Wood for £30M 🤣🤣 https://t.co/zcTIG95Y3t

I actually thought he was more than decent whenever I watched him last season, but still a no.

I’d sign him all day as a replacement if DCL gets injured but 30mill too much .We need 2 players for every position and he would be my like for like swop . Perira for Richarlison would be another. We need a squad desperately. I seriously would only keep about 7 or 8 at the most

I would have him all day but at that age not worth paying for
