'No': Bayern Munich director comments look like positive transfer news for Tottenham - TBR View
Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidžić has ruled his side out of the race to sign Tottenham target Josko Gvardiol.
Fabrizio Romano has tweeted out the comments made on the central defender who helped Croatia finish third at the World Cup.
Not many fancied them to follow up their second place finish in 2018, but they knocked out the likes of Brazil en route to the semi-finals.
Gvardiol was arguably one of the best defenders at the tournament and only enhanced his standing on the world stage.
Bayern will not enter Gvardiol race
Spurs still need a left-footed central defender to bolster their back three and the ideal candidate would be Gvardiol.
It already looks like being a tough race to sign him, with the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid linked with the RB Leizpig man.
The fee may already be too big for Spurs, but at least the club who seems to hoover up most of the best talent in Germany – Bayern – are not yet keen on Gvardiol.
We are past the point of signing players on the back of a World Cup and every top club will have been aware of Gvardiol before Qatar.
Even though he got ripped apart by Lionel Messi in the semi-final, he showed his character by roaring back to score in the third/fourth placed play-off.
Gvardiol will be a real asset to whoever he joins and if it is Tottenham eventually, Antonio Conte would likely be thrilled with that.
