Tottenham Hotspur have not made a single signing yet this summer. So who could be coming in, and who might be heading out on deadline day?
Tottenham, according to the Evening Standard, want to complete four signings on deadline day. The big one that everyone knows about is Jack Grealish. As reported by Sky Sports News yesterday, the Aston Villa playmaker is ‘disillusioned’ with his club over their decision not to accept a £25 million bid from Spurs.
Yesterday also saw Spurs linked with a loan move for former West Ham United loanee Joao Mario. The Mirror suggested he wants a move to London after enjoying his time there last season.
One name that has emerged over the past 24 hours is that of Sander Berge. Dagbladet in his native Norway suggest Spurs and North London rivals Arsenal will attempt to sign the player today. His agent is reportedly in the UK.
Reports in Croatia over the past 24 hours have suggested that Marcelo Brozovic is also a target. SportsKE suggest Spurs have made a £36 million offer for the World Cup finalist. That is £9 million shy of the valuation Inter Milan have for the player. So it appears Spurs are hedging their bets in the midfield area.
Then there is Anthony Martial. Linked with Tottenham throughout the summer, Football.London have suggested there will be one final attempt to sign the Frenchman today. However, that could depend on the man heading up the ‘out’ column for Spurs.
Tottenham are still looking for a buyer for Toby Alderweireld. He has been linked with Manchester United throughout the summer, with a potential swap involving Martial mooted earlier in the window. However, the Independent reported yesterday that United were no nearer to meeting Spurs’ asking price and could switch attention to Harry Maguire.
Danny Rose could be off to Germany. Schalke 04 now look the most likely side to snap up the England international. Sky Sports reported yesterday that the Bundesliga side is in talks with Spurs over a potential loan-to-buy deal for the left-back.
West Ham are now said to be considering a move for Fernando Llorente. The Spaniard, who struggled at Tottenham last season, is a target for the Hammers – according to the Daily Mail.
Finally, the youngster once dubbed Messi-like by Mauricio Pochettino, Marcus Edwards could be on his way out. Bayer Leverkusen are the most recently linked side for the youngsters’ signature.
