Nile John has posted on Instagram after putting pen to paper on a new two-and-a-half-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur, underlining his delight to have agreed an extended stay with Spurs – and Troy Parrott responded, among others.
John, 17, has enjoyed a brilliant month with Tottenham. Starting the season, attacking midfielder John started the season in the Under-18 side. An England Under-17 international, he has played 12 times for the Under-18’s this season.
His form at that level has seen him called up to the Under-23 team – making his debut for the reserves earlier this month during a 5-1 win over Brighton. The youngster is certainly ahead of the curve, laying on an assist in the 5-1 victory.
Now, John has posted on Instagram to confirm to fans that he has penned a new deal that will keep him with the North London club until the summer of 2023 – when he will be 20 years of age. He is clearly delighted to have agreed terms.
There are plenty of attacking midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order. While a first-team debut is hardly on his agenda at the moment, the likes of Dele Alli, Tanguy Ndombele, Gio Lo Celso and more sit ahead in the pecking order.
Plenty of work to be done for John, then, but he has made an excellent start to life at Spurs since turning 16 – and will now be focused on becoming a regular in the second string. Troy Parrott, Harvey White and others responded to his post.
