Joe Aribo made his international debut for Nigeria yesterday evening. The 23-year-old was handed his debut from the start as the Super Eagles played out a 2-2 draw with Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk.
His debut was well deserved after a brilliant start to life at Ibrox since he made his summer move from Charlton Athletic.
It also did not take him long to repay the faith of Nigeria boss Gernot Rohr.
Aribo gave Nigeria the lead in the game, smashing home a cross from Everton winger Alex Iwobi after a trademark late run into the box from midfield.
The goal was a huge signifier of what was a fantastic performance from Aribo on his international debut.
The London-born star was in good form throughout the game and his powerful play in the heart of midfield certainly impressed the Nigeria fanbase.
Plenty of fans took to Twitter after the game to highlight their joy at Aribo’s performance. Some even compared him to former Super Eagles hero Jay-Jay Okocha and Manchester United midfield dynamo Paul Pogba.
It looks like Rangers’ newest hero could also be about to have the same impact on international duty.
