Nigel Martyn reacts to latest Leeds United win on Twitter

The ex-custodian took to the social media platform to rave about the Whites after their latest success.

Leeds United defeated Middlesbrough 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium last night to ensure they stayed on track for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites secured the victory thanks to a Mateusz Klich goal just before the half-time interval. It means Leeds are five points clear of Fulham in third with 11 games of the season left to play.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side looks like they have put their recent slump behind them and have now won three games in succession.

Their win over Boro wasn’t always pretty but ultimately they got the job done and at this stage of the campaign three points are all that matters.

Following the game former goalkeeper Nigel Martyn took to Twitter to rave about the performance, offering a short but sweet analysis on social media.

The ex-stopper made 250 appearances for Leeds playing a crucial part in their run to the Champions League semi-final back during the 2000/01 campaign.

He was a firm fan favourite in David O’Leary’s team and was a vastly underrated member of the squad.

Martyn knows what it is all about to play in the Premier League in the famous white of Leeds United and this season’s squad will hope to reach the Promised Land in the coming months.

Given the size of Leeds, there is every belief that under Bielsa they can go up and continue progressing.

Teams like Wolves and Sheffield United have done well following promotion in recent seasons and Leeds will hope to emulate those successes.

The Whites face Hull away on Saturday before taking on Huddersfield at home. If Leeds come through those two unscathed their position in the league might look even healthier.
