Nigel Martyn issues post-match reaction after Leeds thrash Hull

Leeds United cult hero Nigel Martyn has given his thoughts on the Whites’ thumping 4-0 win over Hull City in Saturday’s early Championship kickoff.

The Elland Road side went into the game in great form, having won their last three league games by one goal to nil.

The Tigers, meanwhile, had not won in their last nine matches, with seven defeats and just two draws in that time, and two of their best players this season – Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki – left the club in January.

It didn’t take long for Leeds to break the deadlock against Hull as Luke Ayling weighed in with a long-range effort which cannoned off Callum Elder en route to the back of the net in the fifth minute.

Pablo Hernandez then doubled the Whites’ advantage just two minutes into the second half, and Tyler Roberts made sure of all three points with his side’s third and fourth late on.

The result put Leeds seven points clear of Fulham ahead of the 3pm kickoffs and former Elland Road goalkeeper Martyn shared his thoughts about the game on his Twitter account.

Some fans expressed their joy in response to Martyn’s tweets:

Leeds are back in Championship action next Saturday when they take on Huddersfield Town at Elland Road.
