Tottenham Transfer News: Zaniolo wants to sign, £17.5m deal being discussed

Tottenham could be close to signing Nicolo Zaniolo from Roma this month, with reports now claiming the player has agreed to sign for Spurs.

A report from Sport Mediaset today claims that Zaniolo has effectively said ‘yes’ to joining Spurs and that all is left to be ironed out is the terms of the transfer. With that, there is a current blocker given Spurs and Roma’s differing needs.

It’s claimed Tottenham want to take Zaniolo on loan and then pay £17.5m for him, if they qualify for the Champions League. Roma, meanwhile, are looking for a guarantee from Spurs regardless of the top four and a fee closer to around £30m to sign the Italian.

Zaniolo has long been on the radar of Antonio Conte. He knows him well from his time in Italy and sees him as a player who can boost the first-team at Spurs. Indeed, the player himself is thought to be keen on working with Conte.

Tottenham and Conte are desperate for reinforcements. Another loss last night against Man City highlighted yet more need for new players. Spurs are thought to be looking for a wing-back, a midfielder, and a forward player at the very least.

Zaniolo can play across multiple attacking midfield positions, both wide and centrally, if required.

TBR’s View: Zaniolo signing a massive boost for Tottenham

The ‘incredible‘ Zaniolo is quite the player and it just seems he’s had a bit of a falling out with Roma right now.

That will work to Tottenham’s advantage though. Spurs need themselves some new blood and Zaniolo is a quality player who can more than contribute to this Spurs side.

Zaniolo has long been courted by a number of clubs. Tottenham look to be close to getting this over the line.

In the end, they might just have to pay up and get it done, rather than haggling over a few million.
