Tottenham have received a major boost in their transfer business as MARCA’s printed edition (Thursday 28th March 2019, page 4) reports that left-back Nicolas Tagliafico has told Ajax that he wants to leave the club this summer.
They say that Tottenham are among the interested parties for the Argentina international, who would cost around £21.4 million to sign and bring him to the Premier League after his impressive form in the Netherlands caught the eye.
Whilst left-back may not be Mauricio Pochettino’s priority with Danny Rose and Ben Davies available, it could be one of the areas that the coach has identified for improvement.
The 26-year-old is under contract until 2022, according to Transfermarkt, but he is clearly intent on departing Amsterdam in the summer with plenty of clubs interested, including Atletico Madrid according to Diario AS.
If so, that may help Daniel Levy and company to negotiate a lower fee for him, though the number of interested parties may give cause for concern over a potential bidding war, even if the defender wants to leave.
Tagliafico’s fine form domestically and in Europe has shown what he could bring to the Tottenham Stadium and this news could be the boost that Spurs need to get a deal over the line to become their first transfer in over a year.
