Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe has admitted he is not satisfied with the way he has started his career at the Emirates Stadium, as per French outlet RMC Sport.
24-year-old Pepe has struggled for form since his club-record move to north London this summer and has delivered an honest self-assessment.
He said: “It’s not been easy, we must tell the truth. I’m not good enough in my stats or my usual form, it’s not the same as in Lille or during the Liverpool match early in the season.
“The confidence must come back. I am not very worried. People may be worried about statistics, but I’m not. I have to keep working because the level is different, so is the language. It’s a new championship for me. I have to adapt quickly but it will not be long.”
TBR’s View – Pepe should adapt but currently Saka looks the better player
Pepe comes to England off the back of a hugely impressive season with Lille last time around and Arsenal will hope it’s only a matter of time before he rediscovers that form.
But at Old Trafford on Monday night, it was Bukayo Saka who looked the more dangerous wideman, with the teenager providing more of a threat.
Pepe says that isn’t a worry but it should provoke him into improving as quickly as possible because Arsenal also have other young widemen – Reiss Nelson chief among them – who are knocking on the door to emulate Saka.
