Ruben Amorim’s job at Manchester United looks to be safe, at least for now.
Despite Man United finishing 15th in the Premier League during his first campaign in charge and only improving slightly this season, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is backing the under-fire Amorim.
However, the co-owner has done his due diligence on a number of potential replacements, with TBR Football revealing that Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola are in contention.
Neither would leave their current club midway through the season, though, which raises the prospect of United once again appointing an interim boss should they sack Ruben Amorim.
But United legend Nicky Butt is adamant one manager should not get the job.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer return could ‘ruin him’
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may not have managed to win a trophy in the Old Trafford hot seat between 2018 and 2021, but his stint was well-received by supporters.
Solskjaer led United to a second-placed finish in the Premier League and a runner-up spot in the Europa League before he was sacked after a dismal run of results.
During an appearance on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Butt and fellow Red Devils great Paul Scholes were asked whether they would want the Norwegian to return.
“Tough question,” Scholes said. “As a few names have been mentioned, have they done enough to be manager of Man United? I’m not too sure.”
Butt then advised Solskjaer to steer clear of the role, adding: “I think the hard thing for Ole would be if he came back second time, it could ruin him.
“It won’t, because of his legacy at the football club, but I mean, he could bring prime, Sir Alex [Ferguson] or Jose [Mourinho] at the minute and they wouldn’t be able to do anything with that squad.
“So for me, I hope it wouldn’t happen.
“Purely for the fact that if he got asked to do it, he’d do it because of his love for the club.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would take Man United job
Solskjaer remains out of work after being sacked by Besiktas following their Europa Conference League knockout earlier this season, but he appears to be a man in demand in some quarters.
Indeed, he has previously been linked with the likes of Wolves, Celtic and the Republic of Ireland job.

He has openly admitted he would make a comeback at United without even thinking, however.
“If your family asks you, you say yes every day of the week,” he said, per Norwegian outlet VG. “It feels wrong to talk about jobs other people have. But I say yes.”
