Arsenal managed to land their priority attacking target this summer by bringing Gabriel Jesus to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were crying out for a new No. 9 after the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

And in Jesus, Arsenal now have the perfect player to spearhead their attack in pursuit of a top-four place next season.

The Brazil international finalised his move to the Gunners from Manchester City on Monday for a reported £45million.

Jesus has joined up with his new teammates at Arsenal’s pre-season training camp in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

On Friday, ahead of their friendly with Nurnberg, the Gunners shared footage from one of their training sessions.

Jesus was videoed twisting Pablo Mari inside out, before firing a low shot beyond goalkeeper Matt Turner.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright, watching the action unfold, loved what he saw from the new recruit.

“Nice finishing there Jesus,” he said. “Man, some nice finishing!”

Gabriel Martinelli, sitting next to Wright replied: “That’s why we bought him!”

The Highbury icon then embraced Jesus and spoke of his hopes for the upcoming season.

“This is good man, but just remember get through this,” added Wright.

“I’m happy for us this year. This is it, it’s happening. It’s so good to be among this, I can feel the energy!”

Mikel Arteta has named Jesus on the bench against Nurnberg.

“He’s our main main”

Earlier this week, Wright waxed lyrical about Jesus’ arrival at Arsenal.

“When we first got linked with him I thought ‘oh, here we go, we are just getting linked with people, it’s not going to happen’,” he said on Wrighty’s House.

“Then Erling Haaland comes in, so he is going to go somewhere. Can we get him?

“I started to think about what he brings and what he can do. I was thinking, he’s perfect.

“He’s perfect – I don’t think they have promised him anything, he is going to play.

“For him, to come to our place knowing that he’s our main man.

“See a player ready to be number one, go to a club that they want him to be number one, it’s got to be a massive incentive for him.

“If we are looking at Salah and Son sharing the Golden Boot from out wide and how Gabriel Jesus will play more regularly and hopefully score more goals.

“You don’t need to be in there as that number nine, scoring loads of goals to win the Golden Boot, you can do it from the wing.

“All that intense rivalry is needed (between Jesus, Smith Rowe, Nketiah and Martinelli) of quality players because everybody has to step up.

“That signing is an amazing signing in respect of what we want to do.”
