Report: Manager verbally agrees three-year contract at Everton, currently finalising his backroom team

The next Everton manager is looking likely to be Rafael Benitez.

According to The Telegraph, the Spaniard has verbally agreed a three-year deal with the Toffees.

Benitez is also in the process of finalising his backroom team, added the outlet.

Benitez looks set to become only the second manager in history to take the reins at both Everton and Liverpool.

According to the Daily Mail, Farhad Moshiri views Benitez as the best coach to bring Champions League football to Everton.

Moshiri and Benitez have apparently met and both are eager on the idea of turning Everton into a Champions League team.

The report adds that Alisher Usmanov is also supportive of the prospect of Benitez managing the Blues.

And both Moshiri and Usmanov have reportedly received glowing testimonials from Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

He rates Benitez amongst the best managers he has employed at Stamford Bridge, added the Daily Mail.

Next Everton manager: Benitez wouldn’t be a bad shout – TBR View

Benitez may be a controversial pick for next Everton manager given his Liverpool connections.

However, he deserves a chance – and certainly doesn’t deserve the abuse he’s been getting from some people.

Benitez has an impressive CV, having managed some of the biggest clubs in Europe and winning plenty of silverware.

And if Benitez does deliver silverware and Champions League football to Everton, then Moshiri’s gamble will have been successful.
