Newcastle’s bully Salomon Rondon could have a field day against Kevin Long

Newcastle United striker might be licking his lips at the prospect of Monday evening’s Premier League clash with Burnley.

The Clarets have two notable injury absentees in James Tarkowski and Ben Gibson, meaning it’s likely Kevin Long will be the man lining up alongside the experienced Ben Mee.

Tarkowski has undergone surgery to repair a hernia.

The defender had to remove himself as England’s standby option for the World Cup to try and sort out the issue, but he’s now had another operation after having more trouble with it.

Amazingly, Gibson is also recovering from a hernia operation.

Rondon can add to Bournemouth brace

Magpies striker Rondon will smell blood in the water at St. James’ Park.

Wounded Burnley have been shipping goals aplenty of late, and they could come undone by the Venezuelan who has rediscovered his taste for goals.

Rondon bullied Bournemouth before the international break and reminded everyone just how effective he can be.

Likely deputy Long is not known for his aggression or love for a physical battle.

If Rondon is smart he will try to pin himself on the Republic of Ireland man more than he will Mee.

Long has started just twice in the Premier League this season, including last time out for the Clarets against Leicester City where, to his credit, he did contain Jamie Vardy quite well.
