The Premier League has had a number of elite strikers over the years, but if you had to pick the best, the debate is between Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer and Arsenal icon Thierry Henry.

Football has evolved a lot over the years, and players across the pitch have their own importance. However, the most important thing in the game is still scoring goals.

That’s why strikers cost so much money these days, and although we’ve seen many incredible centre-forwards, very few come close to Shearer and Henry.

Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon has now had his say on the debate.

Anthony Gordon picks who’s better – Thierry Henry or Alan Shearer

Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer are both in the Premier League Hall of Fame and rightly so.

The legendary Frenchman is arguably Arsenal‘s greatest-ever player. He was among the best in the world in his prime, and he helped the Gunners win so many trophies.

Alan Shearer is a hero to every Newcastle United fan. He is adored by everyone at the club even to this day, and he is just an absolute legend.

The difficult task for anyone would be to pick the better player out of Henry and Shearer. Anthony Gordon has stayed loyal to Newcastle United.

In a blind rankings video on Pro Direct Soccer, Gordon ranked Henry second on his list. He said: “Henry, number two. That’s a big shout that, isn’t it?”

Then, when Shearer’s name came up, he didn’t even hesitate. “Number one, Alan Shearer,” he said.

Alan Shearer vs Thierry Henry stats in Premier League

Newcastle United fans will always back Alan Shearer to be the best striker ever, while Arsenal supporters will be behind Thierry Henry all day long.

There’s no easy way to settle this, but we can always look at their stats.

Shearer played 441 times for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United in the Premier League and scored 260 goals. He provided 68 assists as well.

Henry, on the other hand, played 258 games in the Premier League, scored 175 goals and provided 80 assists for Arsenal.

Shearer has more goals while playing for weaker teams, while Henry played considerably fewer games in the Premier League.
