Newcastle United are reportedly set to sell midfielder Jonjo Shelvey in the summer.
According to the Telegraph, the 27-year-old is ‘likely” to depart despite reassurances from manager Rafael Benitez about his future at St James’ Park.
The report details that West Ham could reignite interest in the six-time capped England international after previous interest.
The Magpies should ensure that the central midfielder stays in the North East, as they don’t have the strongest squad and there is no guarantee they could bring in a quality replacement.
Newcastle would not be learning their lesson from Isaac Hayden if they let Shevley go, as the former has gone from a fringe player this campaign to now a key starter.

Shelvey currently finds himself out of favour and struggling for action since returning from injury, with his last 90 minutes in the Premier League coming back in October.
But he could still be a useful player moving forward and has the technical qualities to break back into the side later down the line.
Shelvey has been plagued by injuries and poor form throughout his career, but when he’s on form he can be a force in the top flight and Newcastle would surely have to pay big money to get someone with the same passing range.
