Newcastle United will look to sign Manchester United goalkeeper, Dean Henderson, during the summer transfer window if they can do a deal.

The England stopper is out of favour at Old Trafford and is having to watch on as David De Gea enjoys a resurgence to his very best form in a Manchester United shirt. Henderson had opted to stay with the Red Devils initially after being given a few chances when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge. However, since then, De Gea has reaffirmed his place, leaving Henderson frustrated.

And according to a report from GiveMeSport, Newcastle are hoping to tempt Henderson to the northeast in the hope that he is ready for a fresh challenge elsewhere. They suggest that Henderson could be looking for regular first-team chances and that Newcastle could be the place for him.

Of course, the Mags do have some good goalkeepers already. The likes of Dubravka, Darlow, and Woodman are all at the club, meaning Henderson would have competition again.

He’ll want guarantees of being the number one but there is a good chance that Dean Henderson and Newcastle are a bit of a match made in heaven here.

The stopper doesn’t lack confidence and has the personality and ability to cope with the pressures that will come the way of the PIF backed Newcastle. Of course, while at Sheffield United, Sander Berge labelled Henderson’s ability as ‘insane’ and admitted he left him speechless at times.

Newcastle will make big signings this summer as we know. Getting a good number one, then, is key.
