As the summer transfer window edges closer, Newcastle United’s hunt for a striker intensifies. Salomon Rondon could be their top target after impressing on loan this season.
But according to TEAMtalk, Newcastle have reservations about spending £16m on the 29-year-old, who has scored nine league goals this season.
The same report claims that Spartak Moscow striker Ze Luis is the alternative option for the Magpies. Rated at £10m, Ze Luis is keen on a move to England.
But this is an underwhelming transfer target for Newcastle and Ze Luis is unlikely to be the striker to take the club to the next level.
The Cape Verde international has a mediocre goalscoring record from his time in Portugal, Hungary and Russia.

Throughout his 10 seasons in senior football, Ze Luis has only hit double figures in the league once. That came back in 2011/12 when he netted 10 times for Gil Vicente in the second tier of Portuguese football.
Since then, the 28-year-old has failed to hit double figures in any top-flight league campaign for Gil Vicente, Braga, MOL Vidi or Spartak Moscow.
This season, Ze Luis has scored eight league goals in 17 matches and could be on course for his first double-figures campaign.
But he is only a year younger than Rondon, who is a proven Premier League performer and a much better option.
