Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Stade de Reims forward Remi Oudin. As reported by L’Equipe, the Premier League side are keen on bringing him to St James’ Park this summer after an impressive term with Reims.
He has scored 10 goals in 30 games for the club and has been compared to Robin van Persie because of his wicked left-foot and power.
Of course, those RVP comparisons are bound to get Newcastle fans excited. However, this has all the hallmarks of a Graham
Carr transfer.
The club’s former recruitment chief was once handed an eight-year deal by Mike Ashley because of the successful signatures of Yohan Cabaye, Mathieu Debuchy, and Hatem Ben Arfa – to name a few.

However, as reported by The Independent, he was not popular with Rafa Benitez once he arrived. The Spaniard wanted control over player recruitment, which would not happen with Carr still at the club.
Carr left and, despite his previous success, Newcastle fans were pleased.
Because for all his previous success the likes of Emmanuel Riviere, Sylvain Marveaux, Mapou Yanga Mbiwa, and Remy Cabella, to name a few bad recruits, tainted the water.
Oudin would be a similar target. Likely to be relatively cheap, with limited experience, he certainly doesn’t seem like much of a Benitez signing at all.
If Carr was still at St James’ Park, this would be a very believable rumour. Considering he left in 2017, a pinch of salt might be needed.
