Newcastle United would be a better side with previous target Wylan Cyprien

In March 2017, Newcastle United were linked with a move for OGC Nice midfielder Wylan Cyprien.

But given his injury concerns, they passed up this opportunity.

Looking at their team and the lack of midfield creativity now, Cyprien would have been an excellent addition.

Newcastle’s side would be much better if they had Cyprien pulling the strings in midfield.

The 23-year-old has bounced back from his injury commendably, establishing himself as a regular for Nice.

This season, Cyprien has scored once and picked up one assist in nine Ligue 1 matches.

He is finally starting to get a run of games together and is now aiming to kick on.

Now that the ex-France youth international is fully fit, he is showing exactly how good he can be.

The former Lens man is a box-to-box style midfielder but his quality on the ball would give the Magpies an extra dimension going forward.

Newcastle’s attack has been toothless this season. They have scored just six goals in 10 Premier League matches and it is no surprise that they sit second bottom without a win to their name.

With the likes of Mo Diame and Christian Atsu struggling, Cyprien would be an upgrade.

Newcastle could be regretting not moving for him when they had the chance.
